The 17th Beijing Essen Welding & Cutting Fair was held for four days from Monday, June 4 until Thursday, June 7 at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing. This exhibition, which prides itself on being one of the largest welding shows held in Asia, is held alternately every year in either Beijing or Shanghai. This year it was held in Beijing.

This year we set up a display to conduct PR for the Shinko Group in the Chinese market together with Kobe Welding of Tangshan Co., Ltd., Kobe Welding of Qingdao Co., Ltd., and Kobe Welding of Shanghai Co., Ltd., which are all group companies.

This year, we set up a space to introduce materials for each type of industry with a focus on robot systems, as well as for business negotiations in a joint section together with the Tangshan Group, with which Kobe Welding of Tangshan (which is based in Tangshan City near Beijing) is affiliated. Lots of visitors viewed our company's technology and products by means of our carrying out welding demonstrations on stainless steel flux-cored wire. At our corner for introducing materials for each industry we gave explanations through panels, and also displayed our products and welding bead samples. We also highlighted the fact that we are a manufacturer that provides comprehensive solutions for welding systems and welding materials. We were also able to communicate with numerous customers at our business negotiation corner, which had an air of openness about it.

Throughout the four days that the exhibition was held customers from China as well as from other countries throughout the world like India, the Middle East, and the West also turned up. We feel that we were able to soundly convey our company's strengths to these customers.

Welding shows were also held in Japan this year, but Beijing Essen, with its exhibition space that is several times larger than these other shows, was the highlight of the year. The scene of eight massive halls all tightly packed with exhibition stands was a spectacular one, and gave us a firsthand feel for the fact that this is truly a world-class exhibition in both name and reality. Noteworthy welding-related companies from around the world held displays at the exhibition, which is huge in scale, thereby giving us a good understanding of the fact that these companies are focusing their efforts on China.
Fair theme
We must strengthen our presence in this enormous market. In order to do so we must appeal to our technical prowess as a manufacturer that provides comprehensive solutions, while also consolidating our position as a local supplier in cooperation with our three group companies. We came away from this exhibition with the self-awareness that we need to work even harder to earn the patronage of numerous other customers for KOBELCO products.
