The Japan International Welding Show 2014 was held at the Tokyo Big Sight from April 23 to 26, 2014. The organizers announced that 95,873 people attended the show, including 5,013 from overseas. While the size of the event was reduced from three halls in 2010 to two halls this year, the venue was packed with visitors, reflecting recent strong corporate performance. Although smaller in scale than 2010, KOBELCO also gave welding system demonstrations and exhibited industry-specific welding methods and materials for structures. The photos below show our exhibition.
Situated on reclaimed land in the Port of Tokyo, the venue is connected to the city center by subway, monorail, and water-bus, and can be quickly accessed from Haneda International Airport.
The Tokyo Big Sight is the most prominent venue and holds the greatest number of exhibitions in Japan. It's inverted-pyramids appearance is also very characteristic.
A moving walkway is provided for the several-hundred meters from the main entrance to the venue building. The building beyond the flag of Japan is that of the venue.
Visitors registered at the reception and entered the venue by a card classified according to their industry and organization.
The opening ceremony began with an address from the organizer and concluded with a tape cutting ceremony given by representatives of the exhibiting businesses.
The event was crowded throughout, and the aisles teemed with visitors at times.
The front of our booth was also packed with visitors during the demonstrations.
These demonstrations introduced REGARC™, which has now been made into a series of systems for steel frames, and gave a demonstration of the time-saving effect of using teaching software.
Specialist staff on hand responded to inquiries from the visitors.

On the final day of the exhibition, a welding technique contest planned by the organizers was put on for high school students. Planning began by inviting the participation of high schools with a welding curriculum, and culminating in the national final at which the successful teams from the regional qualifiers competed. The teams were able to request their preferred welding material, which KOBELCO provided for the contest in addition to the trophy and commemorative goods such as hats.
