The boat house first floor is the boat hanger, fishing gear storage room, and workplace.
Ine Ura in Ine Town received the selection as important traditional buildings for the first time as a fishing village. It is a settlement at a quiet cove, located at the eastern end of the Tango Peninsula, facing Wakasa Bay.
It is hugged by mountains on three sides. Its concentration of boat houses, main wings estates, storehouses, etc were built from the late Edo Period until the early Showa Period on a small land.
About 230 boathouses line the approximately 5 km circumference bay. This creates a unique historical landscape.
The boat houses are buildings that take advantage of natural conditions: calm waves, small tidal variation, and a suddenly deep sea.
